Los Feliz

Los Feliz, adjacent to Hollywood and the Silver Lake area is one of the last of the Hollywood Old World neighborhoods in Los Angeles that has retained its authentic architecture and ambiance. Most Los Feliz houses were built in the era between the World Wars, and more than half of the homes are of Spanish or Mediterranean revival styles. Los Feliz is also rich in virtually all of the other revival styles such as Country English, Norman French, Traditional (especially from the 1930s and 1940s) and Colonial by noted architects such as Paul Williams and Wallace Neff. Signature modern architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, Rudolph Schindler, Lloyd Wright, Raphael Soriano and J.R. Davidson among others did some of their finest work in Los Feliz. The main attraction in Los Feliz is Griffith Park, the world’s largest city park, containing the Los Angeles Zoo, the Greek Theatre, the Autry National Center of the American West and numerous other recreational opportunities. Atop Griffith Park is its famous Observatory, which was recently restored and expanded. On Vermont and Hillhurst Avenues is a trendy boutique shopping area called Los Feliz Village. Long known for its fiercely independent and creative spirit, Los Feliz Village encompasses a diverse selection of businesses of over 250 merchants – from friendly restaurants and services which have been L.A. basin favorites for over 50 years, to cutting-edge designers and hip “retro” clothing, vintage and collectibles shops. Freeway access is convenient since Los Feliz lies between the Hollywood and Golden State Freeways, making it a 15-minute drive to Downtown Los Angeles, 10-minute drive to Hollywood and 30-minute drive to the west side.

Boundaries: Hollywood Boulevard to the south, Hyperion Avenue to the southeast, Griffith Park to the north, the Los Angeles River to the east, Western Avenue to the west and traversed by Los Feliz Boulevard.
