Beachwood Canyon

Beachwood Canyon The home of the iconic and world-famous Hollywood sign. Named after Albert Beach. The original stone pillars and sign still stand at the entrance to the original Hollywoodland, as does the charming little village that has its own market, coffee shop and stables. The upper portion of the canyon is where Hollywoodland was built, a development created to evoke a Mediterranean Riviera in the Hollywood Hills using architectural and landscaping influences from the southern regions of France, Italy and Spain. The real draw here is the large stock of well-preserved character homes, including a great deal of storybook homes with their vine covered cottages and Normandy-castle architectures. But this area isn’t just home to classical and historical architectural styles. Some of America’s foremost mid-century and modern architects have designed homes in the Beachwood Canyon hills. Here you will find homes designed by John Delario (the chef designer of Hollywoodland), Richard Neutra and John Lautner.

Boundaries: The eastern portion of the Hollywood Hills from Franklin Avenue up to the Hollywood Sign and west to east from Beachwood Canyon Drive to Bronson Avenue.
