Laurel Canyon (Laurel Hills)

Laurel Canyon First developed in the 1910s, Laurel Canyon became a part of the city of Los Angeles in 1923. Community life is focused on its central thoroughfare, Laurel Canyon Boulevard. Unlike other nearby canyon neighborhoods, Laurel Canyon has houses lining one side of the main street most of the way up to Mulholland Drive. There are many side roads that branch off the main canyon into self-contained macro-neighborhoods including Laurel Hills, Briar Summit, and Woodrow Wilson Drive (commonly called Celebrity Row). Many early film stars such as Charlie Chaplin took refuge in Laurel Canyon and built exquisite homes that are now the historical back drop in the canyon. Home styles range from Spanish Revival to mid-century modern to traditional making this the most eclectic area in the Hollywood Hills.

Boundaries: The Hollywood Hills between Sunset Strip to the west and Nichols Canyon to the east.
