Mount Olympus
Mount Olympus is a prominent neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills, squeezed in between Laurel Canyon to the west and Nichols Canyon to the east. The youngest community of single-family residences in the Hollywood Hills (with the exception of Beverly Park in the Beverly Hills Post Office), it was created in 1963 by developer Russ Vincent. The main entrance, off Laurel Canyon Boulevard, is marked by a bold, ornate sign. As the name suggests, the streets are named after Greek Gods such as Hercules, Venus, Zeus and Achilles. In contrast to most hillside neighborhoods, Mount Olympus is known for having excellent infrastructure with city utilities running underground and wide, paved streets and sidewalks. Most of the homes are contemporary with over 3,000 square feet on larger-than-average lots. Some of the best views of downtown Los Angeles are from Mt. Olympus. Since 1983, Mt. Olympus has been a planned community operated by a Property Owners Association.
Boundaries: Hollywood Boulevard, Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Willow Glen Road, and Nichols Canyon Road.
