Outpost Estates
Outpost Estates A canyon neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills just above Hollywood Boulevard, Walk of Fame and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Starting with just ten-and-a-half acres in the 1920s, Outpost Estates was one of the first luxury residential neighborhoods in the heart of Old Hollywood. The name Outpost Estates derives from the clubhouse owned by General Otis (one of the original owners of the Outpost tract) and used for entertaining the general’s buddies from the military. Lower Outpost looks pretty much the same as it did from the 1920s, with most of the original authentic Spanish-style houses lovingly preserved. Much of the Outpost consists of rolling hills (in the lower areas, steeper in the upper areas) that offer large flat yards and city views. Home prices in Outpost Estates range from $2 million to $15 million. Outpost Estates also allows easy access to the Hollywood Freeway either from below via Franklin Avenue or from above via Mulholland Drive.
Boundaries: Outpost Estates is located in the Hollywood Hills on either side of Outpost Drive, to the east of Nichols Canyon Road.
Past and Present Celebrity Residents: Author Gore Vidal, and star of Showtime‚ Crime Drama Dexter, Michael C. Hall, William H Macy & Felicity Huffman.
